<note warning> Before you can use this feature you have to ask for a login/password couple for the public-epfl network to the System Administrator. Not all the printers of I.P.G. network are available for public-epfl users, the currently available devices are: recycled, cloud, algo_sud, nord/sudcopier and Polyphemus </note>

1. Connect the laptop to public-epfl wireless (you MUST insert your wireless login/password on the authentication page)
2. Open the System Preferences application and select Print & Fax
3. On the Printing panel select the + to add a new printer
4. On the new window select the IP Printer Icon
5. In Protocol row select Internet Printing Protocol - IPP
6. In Address row insert melpomene.epfl.ch
7. In Queue row you have to insert the name of the printer (refer to tables below) prefixed by printers/.
8. in Name row insert the name you want for the printer
9. in Location row insert the location of the printer, if you want
10. in Print Using row select the correct Manufacturer of the printer and then the model of the printer (refer to table above)
11. click the button Add
12. on the new windows you have to insert the options for the printers (refer to table below)
13. click the button Continue
14. you can print.

4. Click on Add Printer, to start the Add Printer Wizard
5. Click on Next
6. Select the bullet A network printer, or a printer…
7. Click on Next
8. Select the bullet Connect to a printer on the Internet…
9. In the URL: insert: http://melpomene.epfl.ch:631/printers/<name of printer>(look at the table below for the correct printer name)
10. Click on Next
11. Select the Manufacturer: HP
12. Select the model: HP LaserJet 4000 Series PS
13. Click on Next
14. Answer No to the Default Printer request
15. Click on Next
16. Click on Finish

3. Insert the address http://127.0.0.1:631 in the Location Bar
4. If asked enter the root password
5. Select the Administration Tab
6. Click on Add Printer
7. In Name row insert the name you want for the printer
8. In Location row insert the location of the printer, if you want
9. In Description ….
10. Click on Continue
11. Select Internet Printing Protocol (ipp) from the pull down menu
12. Click on Continue
13. In the Device URI insert
    http://melpomene.epfl.ch:631/printers/<name of printer> (look at the table below for the correct printer name)
14. Click on Continue
15. Select HP from Make
16. Click on Continue
17. Select the printer model from the menu list
18. Click on Continue
19. If asked insert the root password in the dialog box
20. Select the options for the printers (refer to table below)
21. click the button Set Printer Options
22. you can print.
