How To Scan

We have 2 different scanner available to the users

  • Epson color 1640
  • HP JetSend 9100c

Epson color 1640

This is located in the Lab IN.R.011, and is usable by everyone, without limitations. To access this scanner the user has to start a scan tool as Kooka, Xsane or Gimp (all accessible from the Desktop) and can scan documents using the graphical interfaces of these programs. The use of this scanner is indicated when the user needs to scan pages from a book or photos, but the operations are extremely slow in case of scan of a large number of pages.

HP JetSend 9100c

The Second scanner is located in the IN.R.133 and is usable only when the office is opened (staff can access all 24h). This scanner is an automatic device that can simplify the work of scanning a large number of pages. Using this device, the user generate a pdf file that is sent by mail at the address the user want. The scanner has an autofeed mechanism, so the pages must be separate and without staple points. The maximum number of pages the scanner can process for a single document is around 100, but the number depends on the weight of paper.
<note> This device is noisy, so is powered on only when needed.
In order to have the machine ready the users have to wait around 5 minutes, after powering on the machine. </note>
