Server List and Functions

Not always is possible to assign to a server a name that is easy to remember and that explain the function of the server, here is a list of the common servers available to the users of our network.

  1. lth.epfl.ch: server used to access our network and svn repositories, using ssh, from the whole world.
  2. lthsvn.epfl.ch: server that provide web access to svn repositories (only the public ones).
  3. iscsrv5.epfl.ch: server used by Os X/Windows users to access the homedir/printers on fileservers, support NFS, AFP and SMB/CIFS protocols for file sharing and Cups/Ipp protocols for Printer sharing.
  4. melpomene.epfl.ch: server to access some of the printers from wireless connections and windows users, informations are available on this documentation.
  5. iscsrv11.epfl.ch: print server for workstations connected to the local network using a wired connection. Normally you don't need to activate a manual connection to this server.
  6. iscsrv11.epfl.ch: file server for Time Machine (only OsX Leopard users), the access is managed only by Network Administrators.
  7. iscsrv13.epfl.ch: server with CPU and Operating System at 64 bit for cluster calculations and development.
  8. iscsrv14.epfl.ch: file server for scratch/tmp files. You don't need to login, from Linux you can reach your scratch space using /scratch/<your username>, from Windows/OsX use the server arachne.epfl.ch with AFP or SMB protocols.
  9. ipgmail.epfl.ch: server email, support SMTP/S, IMAP/S.
  10. iscsrv32.epfl.ch: server web. You don't need to login here, from Linux your web space can be reached using /web/<your username>, from Windows/OsX use the server arachne.epfl.ch with AFP or SMB protocols.
