Server List and Functions

Not always is possible to assign to a server a name that is easy to remember and that explain the function of the server, here is a list of the common servers available to the users of our network.

Server Name Function
lth.epfl.ch used to access our network and svn repositories, using ssh, from the whole world
lthsvn.epfl.ch provide web access to svn repositories (only the public ones)
iscsrv5.epfl.ch provide the printer service for all the computers, the printers are shared using the IPP/IPPs or CUPS protocols. the services are broadcast using Cups and Zeroconf/Bonjour protocol
melpomene.epfl.ch to access some of the printers from wireless connections and windows users, information are available on others pages of this web documentation
arachne.epfl.ch provide access to the file servers usng AFP (Apple OsX) protocol. access to these protocols is available only within the EPFL network or through the use of VPN tunnels.
iscsrv19.epfl.ch file server for Time Machine (only OsX users), the access is managed only by Network Administrators
iscsrv38.epfl.ch server with CPU and Operating System at 64 bit for cluster calculations and development
iscsrv12.epfl.ch file server for scratch/tmp files. You don't need to login, from Linux you can reach your scratch space using /scratch/<your username>, from OsX use the server arachne.epfl.ch with AFP protocol
ipgmail.epfl.ch server email, support SMTP/S, IMAP/S
iscsrv32.epfl.ch server web for personal web pages. From Linux your web space can be reached using /web/<your username>, from Windows/OsX use the server arachne.epfl.ch with AFP or SMB protocols
iscsrv10.epfl.ch homedir file server, your personal disk space is automatically reachable using Nfs protocol at the position “/home/<username>”.
iscsrv22.epfl.ch backup server, only administrators have direct access.
